The collages are the original piece of art, but for me only a step in the art making process. Although I fall in love with every detail and piece of paper in my collages, when I complete one I take it to Pearl Printing where I work with Brian Carter to make giclée fine art prints. The fidelity with which he photographs and prints them captures the depth and nuance of the original collage, such that it is sometimes hard to tell whether I am looking at the actual collage or a print. In addition, the giclee process maintains and sometimes even enhances the vibrant colors of my collages. The prints then, may be understood to be the finished works of art, not the collages; and the collages, pieces of art unto themselves, are also only a step in the process of creating the finished product, the high quality prints.
