Chuck Moshontz is a collage artist living in Portland, Oregon.
Chuck comes to collage, paper sculpting, and cut paper art after 25 years as a radio news broadcaster and a 25-year career as a psychotherapist. His art path began 10 years ago at Phil Sylvester’s Drawing Studio on SE Division, and awakened a creative streak and the quest to make beautiful marks on paper. His long fascination with mid century design, advertising art, poster art, comic book art, a century of New Yorker drawing artists, Matisse, Picasso, Mondrian, Klee, the impressionists, the expressionists, Ellsworth Kelly, Frank Stella and more found it’s way into a developing style. One day, after a series of charcoal and pastel portraits that used slabs of color, he made a not-very-good collage self portrait. The rest, as they say, is mystery.
